SO THIS ONE TIME IT WAS NEW YEARS EVE AND MY ASSHOLE OF A DAD WAS DRUNK AND WE MADE A BET. IF I COULD HIT HIM IN THE ASS CHEEK WITH A BLOWGUN DART THAT I WOULD GET $200. SO I AIMED IT (I WAS 12 YEARS OLD) AND I MISJUDGED THE AIM AND IT HIT HIM STRAIGHT IN THE NUTS AND MY BROTHER HANDED ME $500 WHILE MY DAD WAS TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL VIA AMBULANCE.
You should have gotten 500 per nut…
If you are a man who thinks it’s funny to make misogynist jokes purely to make your female friends uncomfortable/angry, then you are a misogynist. It is not “just a joke.” You literally are finding humor in the discomfort and dehumanization of women. You are not helping, you are not making satire. You are just being misogynist.
Yes, this includes you gay men.
Or should i say “the day honored to a man that caused the deaths of ENTIRE tribe and nearly wiped them out…”
Now…most of you are probably saying…”why bring this up?…it doesn’t matter…”
cause this sort of thing can still happen today.
I am taking a History Class at my University and we were studying Columbus and his voyages. Now, he did NOT discover america…What he did was lead the way in exploration and discovered some lands CLOSE to America…but he never really discovered America! He was really looking for a trade route to China. Which…he didn’t find one either.
In the process of his exploration he befriended the Taino indian tribe…at first this was AMICABLE. They did get along. The Taino’s even gave him food and water…Columbus repaid them by kidnapping one of the Taino and forcing him to be a guide to lead him around the land he had discovered. Well when Columbus had gathered enough gold and other resources he took several Taino back with him to Spain. But he left some men there and those men raped and kidnapped the Taino women causing the Taino to grow increasingly angry with Columbus. On his second voyage Columbus came back to find his men ALL dead and the Taino no longer really trusted him. So Columbus enslaved some of them…sent some to Spain and the others were kept to dig for gold and build a settlement. This left Columbus time to explore more. After dealing with Columbus’s tyrranical ways the settlers wrote back to the spanish monarchs and demanded they do something…and told of the atrocities that Columbus was commiting. Columbus came back to Spain to try and smooth things over and was sent on a third mission in which more Taino were killed, enslaved, raped, beaten, forced to do the settlers work and basically dehumanized them.
Now setting aside that most of the Taino died from diseases that would have killed them anyway because smallpox was the biggest and EVERYONE in europe carried it…there were still murders of Taino that Columbus knew about, there were still rapes and enslavements of Taino that Columbus knew and ACTIVELY approved. There was still this degradation of the Taino.
Yet the people in my class IGNORE the fact that the Taino DIED because of Columbus…they would rather label him a “hero” for “not finding america…” [please note my sarcasm] I seriously think the people in my history class are heartless…They would rather ignore the deaths of lots of people…because of a FEW forward strides that columbus acheived.
and in the process they blame his “apparent” mental illness…which there was no document of. there is no evidence of a mental illness. none of the documents found EVER mentioned Columbus acting as if he were mental insane…even his own sons accounts…say NOTHING.
The only facts that matter are that columbus was a greed driven, power hungry, obessive old man who didn’t give two shits about the Taino people as long as he got the gold and the trade route…
we also talked about if it was intentional…
Can something be not intentional to begin with and end up intentional? Can someone set out without thinking of murdering or exploiting but end up intentionally doing the exact thing? I THINK SO. Columbus knew exactly what he was doing! He was a smart man. He was well educated.
